Did You Forget Mother's Day?

Five last minute solutions for forgetful family members.

So it's Sunday morning, you just woke up and you've realized that you totally forgot about Mother's Day.

If your mother lives far away, maybe you just call her up and have a nice, long talk and that's good enough.  But if your Mom lives right here in town, that might not cut it.  So what can you do?

It might be too late to get a good brunch or dinner reservation but here are five other plans in the nearby area that might yet save the day:

1) : Sure we had the Altadena Guild home tour last weekend, the Theodore Payne native garden home tour last month, and various other similar events, but if your Mom loves architecture, this one's for you.  This Monrovia event features five local Victorian homes, as well as the 100-year-old Leven Oaks Hotel.

2) - For any moms who love classical music, this free performance of the Caltech Chamber Music Ensemble could do the trick.  The concert includes trios by Doppler, Milhaud, and Still, a quartet by Dvorak, and Beethoven's String Quintet, Op. 29.

3) - If you forgot to stop by the florist this is an alternative way to get flowers to Mom.  This show, at the Los Angeles County Arboretum includes a wide assortment of plants for sale and experts who can tell you how to care for them.

4) - The art fair features crafts from painting to pottery to jewelry as well as a place to get food and hear local music where you won't need a reservation.

5) Last Minute Gifts - Some of our local merchants are ideal places to get last minute gifts.  reports they just got in a new shipment of Mother's Day cards and would make a sensible choice for that as well.  As for flowers, we've got and .
