Multiple Power Poles, Trees Downed in Altadena, Widespread Power Outages

Take precautions if you are on the streets Wednesday night as high winds are causing problems in Altadena.

Police radio scanner traffic Wednesday night indicates that there are multiple full-size trees and power poles down at locations in Altadena.

However, for anyone who has ventured a few blocks outside their home, it is fairly obvious that this is such a large-scale problem that bringing specific updates on where there are new trees and heavy branches down and where they are being cleared up is extremely difficult.

My attempts to visit a spot in the area of Fair Oaks and Altadena ended fairly easily as major roads are seriously blocked up--New York Drive is officially closed west of Hill, and other roads in the area are practically closed because of the amount of debris in the road.

Power is also out of order in parts of town, including traffic lights in some areas.  SoCal Edison's website shows widespread power outages throughout town as of 10:50 p.m. Wednesday night.

This reporter's advice is to hunker down and stay indoors--the roads are not a safe place for anyone to be right now.
