Post Office Bill Honoring Altadena Veteran Passed by Congress
Legislation honoring departed Altadena resident Oliver Goodall of the Tuskegee Airmen group will now go to the White House to be signed by the President.

Departed Altadena resident and World War II veteran Oliver Goodall came one step closer to having a post office named in his honor this week after legislation mandating the change passed Congress.
Goodall, an Altadena postal worker and veteran who served with the famous Tuskegee Airmen in World War II, will have a Pasadena post office location named for him assuming the President signs legislation that was sponsored by local Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff.
The Post Office location at 281 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena will be called the “First Lieutenant Oliver Goodall Post Office,” according to a release from Schiff's office.
The original plan was to name the Altadena Post Office after Goodall, but the plan changed in June.
Goodall entered the service as a pilot in 1943. He was also among 60 black U.S. Army Air Corps officers arrested for trying to peacefully integrate an all-white officers’ club, according to Schiff's office. The incident, called the Freeman Field Mutiny, became part of the inspiration for the movement to racially integrate the armed forces.

or it is in such high regard that pasadena holds altadena that the former names buildings after residents from the latter... ? :-)

And if the Altadena POs are among those slated for closure? What would happen to the Goodall honor then? At least there is a greater chance of permanence for the Pasadena PO. Nor do I perceive a Great Divide between the two entities, even if it would have been nicer on the face of it to have it up here.
