Some Forest Service Roads to Close on July 4

In an effort to keep firework usage out of Forest Service areas, some roads, including Chaney Trail, will have restricted 4th of July hours.

In an effort to prevent firework use, some Forest Service roads in the county will be closed the night of July 4, including Altadena's Chaney Trail.

Chaney Trail will be closed to car traffic at 6 p.m. on July 4, though bike and foot traffic will still be allowed, according to a Forest Service press release.

Other roads that will be closed in the county include the road to Chantry Flats, Glendora Mountain Road and Glendora Ridge Road.  The Glendora roads will be closed from the morning of July 3 to the morning of July 5. Chantry Flats will be closed after 6 p.m. on July 4.

All fireworks are not allowed in Forest Service areas, even those deemed "safe and sane" by the County Fire Department, according to the release.

There will be patrols out looking for firework use in the Angeles National Forest, according to the release - penalties for using fireworks on Forest Service land include up to 6 months in county jail and $5,000 in fines.
