5 Things You Need to Know: Altadena Historical Society Event, PUSD Open Enrollment

Some notable PUSD items are coming up, as well as an interesting historical society event.

1) If you've been enjoying the pieces on Altadena history we've been running on the site lately, there is a at the Altadena Historical Society on January 31 that might interest you.  The group will be showing off digitized photos from Altadena's photos and explaining some of the processes behind getting the images done.  The group will feature some of Altadena's colorful historical past, including Zane Grey and the Brown brother who we last month.

2) There will be a Pasadena Unified school board this Thursday at the Pasadena Senior Center.  All are welcome.

3) Also on the PUSD front, today is the opening day for open enrollment for parents seeking to place their kids at schools outside their regular attendance boundary.  All applications must be filed online by February 11.  For more information on the open enrollment process, check out .

4) For anybody looking for an activity for kids tomorrow (or just magic-loving adults) tomorrow the illusionist will perform at the Altadena Library.

5) It's not in Altadena, but this story from the Pasadena Star News about the impending demolition of a historical craftsman in unincorporated Michillinda Park (just outside East Pasadena) has much of the same elements as many an Altadena story: difficulty with county agencies, a desire for historical preservation, and a grassroots neighborhood effort.
