5 Things You Need to Know: Altadena Murder Trial, Station Fire Meeting

1) A murder trial begins today for Mesha Arshaz Dean, who stands accused of while assisting her friend in attempting to take her child away from his father's home.  Monroe Miles, the victim, was the boy's uncle.  Dean's friend, Vanessa Ochoa, already took a plea deal and is serving a 14-year sentence for murder, kidnapping, and child endangerment.  Dean's lawyer has said he plans to argue that Dean pulled the trigger on Miles in self defense. 

2) Forest Service officials will about how the local open space areas are recovering from the Station Fire.  All are welcome to attend.  There has also been a request made for the officials to address the recent canceled operation to

3) If you want to learn more about the history of the Mt. Lowe Railway as well as plans for the , the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy will be hosting with beer and snacks on Sunday.

4) Based on customer water usage since Friday, Pasadena Water and Power, which includes some Altadena customers, is on target to make it through the 10-day conservation period while a .  However, the agency did report an uptick in water usage on Monday following the rain of the weekend.

5) The weekend storm brought a good chunk of precipitation to Altadena, with the National Weather Service reporting 3.35 inches at Eaton Dam, and almost 6 inches of rain/snow up at Mt. Wilson.
