5 Things You Need to Know: Christmas Tree Lane Needs Volunteers, Cash for College Event

Here are some notable announcements and things to look forward to.

1) It might not be as glamorous as helping to prepare for the big Christmas Tree Lane holiday display, but taking the lights down afterwards is every bit as important.  The Christmas Tree Lane Association is looking to for weekend light removal work starting February 12.

2) High school students bound for college are coming up on the deadline to fill out forms for federally-subsidized financial aid.  To learn about how to fill out the forms correctly with the assistance of local financial aid officers  check out the in Pasadena.  There is one Thursday at John Muir High School, at Pasadena High School, and a second John Muir event on January 29.

3) The head of the Pasadena branch of the Outward Bound Adventures organization is bound for bigger things: Tim Rutt of the Altadenablog reports that Charles Thomas, an Altadena resident, has been appointed to run youth and volunteer programs for the western region of the National Park Service.

4) There is an upcoming workshop on identity theft for seniors at the Altadena Senior Center on January 28.

5) For those who have a hard time deciding what to throw away and what to keep, help is on the way.  On January 29, home-and-office organization expert Tracy McCubbin to help people sort those issues out.
