5 Things You Need to Know: Fake Radiation Email, Golf Tournament, County Enforcement Issues

Important local stories and upcoming events

1) The Altadena Chamber of Commerce is hosting its on May 6.  The Chamber is looking for four-person teams to enter the tournament and will be looking among both the business community and for interested individual residents.  There is also a $30 dinner option for those who'd like to support the Chamber but are not interested in golf. 

2) A fraudulent email about the threat of acid rain and radiation from the Japan nuclear plant meltdown has been sent out to press (and possibly others) in L.A. County using the county fire department's logo.  The email says radiation could "cause burns, alopecia or even cancer," claims which the head of the County Health Department has said are totally false.

3) Amidst all the , the Altadena Urban Farmer Market could be the next target, according to Tim Rutt on the Altadenablog.  Rutt writes that code enforcers visited the Gloria Putnam and Steve Rudicel at the Zane Grey Estate over a neighbor's complaint.

4) The Allan Wasserman Jazz Ensemble, led by Altadena Town Council member Allan Wasserman, is playing at.  The group plays regularly in Altadena and Pasadena.

5) The Altadena Historical Society is to help assist with local programs and field trips.  Volunteers are also needed to help archive materials.  If you want to learn more about local history, this sounds like the place to do it.
