Deputies Use Helicopter to Locate Missing Child

Boy was found safe, officials said.

Deputies with the Altadena Sheriff's Station located a missing boy early Tuesday.

The boy was located safe and sound before 8:30 a.m. The search was being conducted near the Hahamonga Watershed area a little after 8 a.m., according to the Altadena Sheriff's Department.

The 11-year-old boy, only described as Latino, 5 feet tall, had been missing for about an hour and a half and was located not too far from where he was reported gone, said Sergeant Brett Hanson of the Altadena Sheriff's Station.

According to one resident, a police helicopter was circling overhead, the pilot used the copter's PA system to call out the child's name.

It was not immediately known why the child went missing.
