Friday night search of assault suspect turns up nothing.

An Altadena neighborhood was barricaded by deputies as they searched for a reported assault with a deadly weapon suspect.

Deputies offered few details Friday night, but the search began after 10 p.m. Friday in the area of Lincoln Avenue and West Palm Street. Deputies at one point reportedly saw the suspect running through Alta Loma Park, past the tennis courts and through the back yards of some residences, according to scanner reports.

Deputies lost sight of the suspect and set up a containment area. Traffic eastbound at Loma Alta from Palm was diverted to prevent anyone from getting in. deputies summoned authorities from the Temple Sheriff's Station to aid in the search for the suspect.

Deputies had to break down containment without finding the suspect, according to Sergeant Cynthia Gonzales of the Altadena Sheriffs Station.

Residents were allowed back in to the neighborhood around midnight.

Loma Alta Park. I live a couple blocks eastof the park. My son and his family were going home at the time and would usually drive south on Lincoln, but he saw the cars and went a different way.
