Does Your Tap Water Taste 'Earthy'?

Laura Monteros, writing at the Altadena Examiner, has the explanation for why some water users may have noticed a chance in their water's flavor.

Have you noticed that in recent weeks your water has begun to have an odd taste?  We've noticed at Altadena Patch and so has reporter Laura Monteros (and she beat us to the punch in figuring out why!).

Monteros writes over at the Altadena Examiner that her inquiries about water taste to several local agencies reveals that the likely cause is an algae bloom in the Calfornia State Water Project, a system of aquifers and reserviors that is used to deliver water from all over the state.

Water users across Southern California get a mix of water from that source as well as local sources, and depending on what percentage of water users are getting from outside of local sources, it's possible that residents could be experiencing a different taste because of the bloom.

Altadena uses a mix of local water agencies, most of which get a blend of local water sources and imported water (though there is one agency that is exclusively local).

More details on the change are available over at the Examiner site, but we want to ask you readers, have you noticed a change in the taste of the water?  Take our poll or weigh in below in the comments section.
