Hahamongna Walkabout to Offer Something Different

The annual event will have a new focus this year.

The Hahamongna Walkabout is scheduled to take place next week, and although it is an annual event, the organizers promise something different this time around.

This year's theme is "Discover Nature with Recreation," according to Jonathan Frame of the Arroyo Seco Foundation which sponsors the event.

"People will give a whole overview of what the park has to offer in terms of recreation," Frame said. "This is one of the rare spots in our area where we can interact with nature on this level."

The learning stations will feature information about the Rose Bowl Riders, an equestrian group that regularly uses the park, the Tom Sawyer Camp, a summer day camp, and the Oak Grove Disc Golf Club, Frame said.

The Arroyo Seco Canyon Project will also be included, so participants can learn about water quality in the area as well as recreational opportunities, according to Frame.

The event begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 23. Groups will leave every half hour. To sign up for the event, or to find out more information, visit the Arroyo Seco Foundation website
