Hazardous Weather: Wind Gusts Expected to Batter San Gabriel Valley

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the San Gabriel Valley and other parts of the Southland.

Moderate to strong Santa Ana winds are expected to bring gusty and potentially damaging winds to the San Gabriel Valley Wednesday morning and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

While 70-mph gusts battered parts of the Southland Wednesday, the winds are expected to die down in the afternoon and pick up again in the evening, according to a weather service report.

A high wind warning denoting 40-mile per hour winds and gusts of around
60 mph will be in effect until 2 p.m. Thursday in both the San Gabriel and
Santa Monica mountains. Folks living or traveling in areas subject to the high wind warning should "be alert for flying debris," according to an NWS advisory.

Watch out for fallen trees and downed power lines and secure all doors and windows, the advisory stated.

The 70-mph gusts were recorded at NWS early Wednesday morning at Camp Nine in the San Gabriels, while Chilao registered winds of 67 mph.
