A young black and silver German Shepherd who went missing yesterday found her own way home.

Update: Bali found her way back to Bonnie's cabin in Millard Canyon, on her own steam.

Altadena's animal rescue hero, Bonny Schumaker, needs help locating a friend's lost dog. "Bali" is a one-year old black & silver German Shepherd who went missing from Loma Alta Park last night. If found or seen, contact:

Dave Couch here... Thank you so much to everyone on the happy ending , a big thanks to this paper, my friend Bonny, Millard cabin owners, Jerry and the forest service crew who spotted her, complete strangers who called and emailed on sightings and a very special thank you to Barbara Ellis, a tireless super searcher ;-)

Amazing how she found her way to where she was familiar with in Millard by somehow navigating from the Loma Alta park up the two miles into the mountains when only traveling it previously by car along the mountain road. Animals do amaze and can teach us a lot both in science and compassion in being man's best friend...

Dave, we are so happy you are reunited w. your GSD. They are great, dogs and very smart! It was an incredible journey indeed -- thank goodness she navigated safely past traffic. Give her a biscuit from us!
