The Pasadena Public Health Department will host an event focused on promoting eating and supporting sustainable, healthy foods.
Food Day descends on Oct. 24. It is a national event which in addition to celebrating healthy sustainable food, champions a grassroots movement to push forward better food policies.
Food Day also emphasizes reducing sugar consumption, as well as sodium and fatty meats in favor of vegetables, fruits and whole grains.
The Pasadena event will feature healthy food demonstrations by chefs from the Network for a Healthy California. The event will also feature the Farmer's Corner, which is a farm stand created by the Pasadena Public Health Department and the Muir Ranch.
Attendees can purchase fresh and low-price produce from Farmer's Corner. Proceeds will benefit Muir Ranch, located at John Muir High School.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pasadena Public Health Department, 1845 N. Fair Oaks Avenue.
