Parent's Talk: School's Out, So Now What?

What do you do with your kids when school is out? Do you prefer to keep them busy with activities or let them go their own way?

Now that school's out parents across Altadena have lost their free child care and educational services and face a whole new challenge: what to do with their kids for the summer?

I personally had the type of parents who did not believe in the "break" part of the term "summer break."  Each summer was a series of new activities, whether it was sports, music lessons, or something else, sitting around all day was not an option.

So, Altadena parents, do you agree?  Do you find your kids need a break after the 9-month grind of the school year, or are you frantically searching for ways to keep them busy this summer?

To lead the discussion we turn to our local moms council, with Courtney Scrabeck, Nina Malone, and Deborah Graff of the local MOMS club, as well as local moms Leslie Aitken and Nadine Isenberg, and Laura Monteros.

And if you are, what are the best options for filling their schedules here in Altadena?  We've previously discussed and options on the site.  What else is there for kids to do over the summer?
