Photos: Pets That Need Homes

These adorable cats and dogs are currently living at the Pasadena Humane Society... but they would love to call your house "home!"

All of these pets are available at the Pasadena Humane Society, the closest pet shelter to Altadena.

The adoption fee includes the animal’s spay/neuter surgery, a microchip, the first set of vaccinations, as well as a free follow-up health check at a participating vet. New adopters will receive a complimentary health and wellness exam from VCA Animal Hospitals. Ask an adoptions counselor for more information during your visit.

To learn more about these pets, call the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA at (626) 792-7151 and refer to the animal’s A number, or stop by during adoption hours: 361 S. Raymond Ave in Pasadena.

Adoption hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Directions and photos of all available pets can be found at www.pasadenahumane.org.

I am a fan of pet adoptions, and I hope these animals find a loving home. But, a pet (ha!) peeve of mine is the fact that the Pasadena Humane Society does not serve Altadena, so I really don't see the point of them advertising on Altadena Patch. We just got an awesome dog from the L.A. County Baldwin Park animal shelter. It's certainly not as nice as the PHS, but they deal with a far greater number of animals. Because it's run by the county, they can't pour resources into a fancy website, but there are volunteer groups which list animals available at the Baldwin Park shelter. We researched our pet through United Hope for Animals. Here's a link to a regularly updated list of animals available, including video: http://www.unitedhope4animals.org/adopt/networking-list-of-adoptable-animals/ Since Altadena residents cannot make use of the Pasadena Humane Society, it would be my hope that Altadena Patch could point residents to resources we can actually use.

I think it's wonderful that you let people know about potential adoptions. PHS doesn't serve Altadena but I'm good with them.
