Power Outages Reported in Several Altadena Areas

All outages appear to be in areas west of Lake; more than 2,500 customers affected

The Southern California Edison service map shows outages in the following (general) areas:

Mariposa/Catherine

St.James/Atadena Drive

Acacia between Lincoln and Glenrose

Windsor/Mountain View

Lincoln/Atadena Drive

More than 2,000 households are listed as impacted and there is no estimated restoration time listed right now.

While weather would be the presumed cause of the outages, "Cause Not Known At This Time" is listed on the SCE website for most locations. More information can be found on the SCE outage map.

Also, there is a report of a tree down at Woodbury & Marengo, according to a Sheriff's Department bulletin.

This was not a severe storm. Why are there power outages so often in our area? We fled to 24 Hour Fitness on Lincoln and Woodbury; the power eventually went out there too...but there were enough lights working so we could continue using the machines.Where do others go when the power is out for hours?

I stay home. Why go anywhere?

If the power went out during a bit of rain, what's going to happen if there's another wind storm? What happened to SCE's PR about how they're fixing these problems?

Look at our beautiful neighborhood trees and powelines often pass through branches and leaves. I imagine that wind can often cause disturbance in our electrical power lines by means of downed lines. Edison is aware of it. They have private contractors trimming last year prior to the December windstorms. I wish they would trim a lot more foliage but how do you balance safety and aesthetics? I would imagine the homeowner would protest as well.
