As Altadena kicked the holiday season into high gear with the 90th Annual Christmas Tree Lane Lighting Ceremony last night, it was politics as usual last week as several Hahamongna organizations and activists decried the county's sediment removal p

MONDAY: Steve Salinas, owner of , spoke with Patch about the North Lake Pole Celebration, which took place last Saturday in the alley near Lake Avenue and Mariposa Street. The event included a sled run on real snow, a petting zoo, and booths lining the alley where local merchants showed off their wares and had an opportunity to let people know about their nearby business. MONDAY: Laura Monteros  that  has started looking for other options for their high school, which means the future use of the site they were looking at, the unfinished building on the corner of Altadena Drive and Lincoln Avenue, is still up in the air.

TUESDAY: Kristi Kellogg on a joint effort by Faith Works Ministry and the Altadena Sheriff's Station, in which a small crowd of police and parolees gathered for a parole seminar designed to help local former prisoners in their uphill battle to rebuild their lives and secure a job.

WEDNESDAY: The  got the okay from LA County planning officials to  a cell phone tower that will be designed to look like a pine tree on their property.

WEDNESDAY: Various organizations and activists who oversee different aspects of the Hahamongna Watershed Park  that the county's plan to remove 50 acres of dirt sediment is devastating in its large scope and design. They also disagreed with the county calling the situation an emergency because of the Station Fire, which allows the county to bypass state environmental laws.

FRIDAY: In between checking out in Altadena, take a few minutes to you know who deserves to be considered Teacher of the Year. While you're at it, take a picture of your decorated house at night and submit it to our for the best display in Altadena.

SATURDAY: Pasadena Unified officials credited early intervention programs for the among PUSD students. John Muir High School leads the pack with an impressive 11 percent rate drop.
