Weekend in Altadena: Street Festival, 9/11 Memorial, and More!

Where:

When: Friday 9/9: 5-7:30 p.m.

Join this community celebration in nearby La Canada as local bands take the stage, food trucks gather and a good time is had by all!

Where: Eaton Canyon Nature Center

When: Friday 9/9: 7:30-9 p.m.

This is your last chance to enjoy Eaton Canyon’s monthly moonlight walks for this season. Join other walkers as the canyon stays open late. Refreshments will follow the walk. Dogs, unfortunately, are not allowed.

Where: Lake Avenue and Mariposa

When: Saturday 9/10: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Parts of Mariposa will be shut down for the street festival (which we've written more about ) and there will be vendors, food, music, a job fair, and much more.

Where:

When: Saturday 9/10: 5-9 p.m.

Join Los Angeles-based artists Janet E. Dandridge, Annie Fourguette, Nicole Fournier, Michael E. Stern, and Tina Wallin for the opening of this new exhibit, which will run at the Altadena Library through September.

Where: New York Drive and Bradley Street in Pasadena

When: Sunday 9/11: 11 a.m.

New York Drive, which connects Altadena, Sierra Madre and Pasadena, will be dedicated as memorial to 9/11. The mayors of all three cities are slated to attend. Emergency responders, council members, and school officials will all be in attendance. The community is invited to come participate in this historic event on the tenth anniversary of 9/11.

Where:

When: Sunday 9/11: 7:30 p.m.

This performance is one night only. The play features Chevoit Hill, “a stingy romantic, who has one tiny problem. He proposes marriage to every woman he meets” (Sierra Madre Playhouse). Tickets are $12-20.
