What Kind of Home Can You Get for $500,000?

A photo tour of recently sold homes in local cities.

The old saying about real estate is "location, location, location," and there is one surefire way to prove it is actually true: look at recently-sold homes in local cities.

We at Patch took a look at homes this week that sold recently for around $500,000 and saw some pretty major differences, as you would expect.

In Arcadia, the home we selected was about 1,200 square foot and looked to be a fixer upper, and in South Pasadena a home that sold for $520,000 was only about 800 square feet.

Conversely, in Eagle Rock you can get a 1,700 square foot home in a hilly neighborhood, and in Montrose, we featured a home that was over 2,000 square feet on a lot that was over 8,000 feet.

Please take a look at our slide show for a full view of the local real estate options.
