Woman Sentenced in Deadly 2012 Pasadena Christmas Collision
From City News Service
A 22-year-old woman pleaded no contest today to possession of a gun by a felon and was immediately sentenced to two years in prison.
Brittany Michelle Washington was originally charged with murder and assault as a co-defendant in the deaths of 25-year-old Glendale resident Tracey Ong Tan and Tan's 11-year-old cousin Kendrick Ng of Daly City. All other charges against her, with the exception of the firearms count, were previously dismissed.
The victims died in a 2012 crash at the end of a brief Christmas Day police chase in Pasadena.
Co-defendant Darrell Lee Williams, 23, has been ordered to stand trial on two counts of murder and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon -- an automobile -- and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Williams was allegedly driving a silver Dodge Durango that rolled through a stop sign near Claremont Street and Marengo Avenue. Police chased the vehicle for about 30 seconds before the SUV smashed into a van turning onto a Foothill (210) Freeway ramp from Marengo Avenue.
Tan and Ng were killed on impact and three other people inside the van were injured.
Williams is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on Feb. 13.
