Altadena Music Professor Made Composer of Pasadena Symphony

Peter Boyer, an Altadena music professor, was named composer in residence to the Pasadena Symphony on Friday, according to the Pasadena Star-News.

The position will last for the 2012-2013 season and Boyer will perform his Symphony No. 1, which was Grammy nominated, according to the Star-News.

According to his website, Boyer has composed music for many well-known movie productions, and is best known for his Ellis Island: The Dream of America, a musical work about the immigrant experience.  Part of that piece can be viewed in the video on right.
