Video: John Muir Student Art Work to be Displayed at Highland Park Studio Show

The work was done as part of a local art after school program.

Artwork created by John Muir High School students will be displayed Saturday at the , in Highland Park, for the studio's monthly Second Saturday Gallery Night.

To discuss the upcoming display, Patch caught up with Cathi Milligan, owner of the studio.

In the attached video, Milligan talks about her current exhibit, which features glass pieces by Muir students as well as students from Wilson Middle School.  The art was done in cooperation with the Light Bringer Project and the international arts program Room 13.

Milligan provided the instructors at the Light Bringer Project with "glass, some parameters and a deadline," which resulted in the student made creations that now fill her studio.

The exhibit is scheduled to close on Saturday night, Milligan said.

Among Milligan's favorite pieces is one created by Muir High School student Jasmine Green, who incorporates mosaic techniques and glass painting into her creation.

"I think she's got an art career ahead of her because it's really, really wonderful," Milligan said of Green.
