ISO Issues Statewide Flex Alert - Blackouts Possible
High heat and increased air conditioner usage will be placing strain on power systems statewide.
A statewide Flex Alert has been issued by the Independent Systems Operator (ISO) and is expected to run through Sunday evening.
According to the ISO, higher than normal temperatures statewide are causing power usage to spike, placing strain on the power grid. If usage is not curtailed, blackouts are possible.
The Flex Alert urges all Californians to reduce power usage and shift non-essential use until after 6:00 p.m.
