Updated: Bulgarini's Famous Pistachio Gelato Still in Limited Supply

Updated:
In a moment of excitement, I spoke too soon about the ever-popular pistachio gelato returning en masse to Bulgarini Gelato in Altadena.

The gelato is still being served only on weekends, with a one scoop per person maximum to help spread out the limited supply.

When Leo Bulgarini returns from his current trip to Italy, the shop hopes to have enough pistachio for folks to eat to their tummy's content in about a month.

Earlier:
The most famous flavor in the case at Bulgarini Gelato in the Rite Aid center on Altadena Drive near Lake Avenue is back, Patch noticed Saturday night while grabbing some scoops before the free outdoor movie shown outside.

The flavor has been absent for months longer than expected since the farmer where Bulgarini gets his pistachios from in Italy had a bad harvest. And since Bulgarini is so particular about his ingredients, using other pistachios was not an option.

Bulgarini got many calls over the past few months from customers asking when pistachio would return, but at least for now their cravings can be satisfied.

Have you had Bulgarini Gelato's pistachio gelato? If so, what do you think? Share in the comments.
