I would like to nominate the Mountain Views News for the newly proposed category of Local Media. Maybe for next year's Choice awards. This weekly publication is highly underrated by my estimates.
Mr. Magoo July 24, 2012 at 06:35 am
The Mountain View News should not be included into the category of local media. Pulp fiction would be a more apt category.

Nathan please go talk to Jon Simon of Simon Equipment . This is a 60 year old family owned Monrovia landmark business. We no longer have The Pottery Bar so please do a story on the Simon family and their company. Jon's father and uncle the business at the end of WWII. The best equipment rental company in the SGV. Monrovia history at it's best. You will be pleased .

Would hate to see these guys go out of business. Best prices, best equipment, friendly and they even loaned(that's for free) a tool to my husband once without even checking it out to him. Just trusted him to return it!
Dan Crandell July 28, 2012 at 03:56 am
Nathan any story about Route 66 through Monrovia should include Simom Equipment in the heading. That company built post WWII Monrovia. I grew up standing next to my father at their counter. Should you want side story or filler information please contact me.

I realize the category is quite small, but I would love to see best Candy Store so that Montrose Candy Co. could be in the running!

Best Towing Company, under Services......Jan's Towing
Steve Kady July 30, 2012 at 10:29 pm
Best Real Estate customer service would be Coldwell Banker Millenium

Why isn't there a category for best downtown/family-owned/small business retail? I'd vote for knot too shabby! :)

There should be a category for BEST Spa...I would vote for Peaches and Cream Day Spa. They are the best in the business and the most professional around. They are amazing at waxing, facials and massages. Plus they have a beautiful garden in the back to relax.

Frank Walsh, Walsh Exterminating in Monrovia (626-359-4712) is EXCELLENT! My gardener got a dozenRead More bites from ground wasps and Frank took care of the nest and they've never returned. We've used him for years for fleas, spiders, wasps, and rats. He's experienced, thorough, neat and best of all, checks the rat traps and disposes of them. Good luck, Rhonda Raulston
