Webster’s Stationers Collecting Hurricane and Holiday Donations

Drop off warm coats and blankets for Hurricane Sandy victims through Thursday, plus food for Put the Fork in Hunger and unwrapped toys for those in need nearby.

The images of Hurricane Sandy’s wrath are powerful and show what many on the East Coast have recently endured. Now victims must also face the cold of winter.

If you’re looking for a way to help in your own backyard, Webster’s Fine Stationers is continuing to collect gently used warm coats and blankets for New York and New Jersey storm victims until Thursday.

Webster’s shared on their facebook page that the donation effort came about through Muffie Alejandro, an Altadena resident who owns Jan-Al Cases with her husband, and started a grassroots donations effort at their Los Angeles store for Sandy victims.

Since it is the holiday season and there are also people in need locally, Webster’s Fine Stationers is also collecting donations of prepackaged foods for the Put the Fork in Hunger drive and unwrapped toys.

Do you plan to bring a blanket, coat, toy or food to Webster’s? What do you think of the local collection effort?
