What Would You Like to See Change in Altadena? (Poll)

The town will be going through a public input process on possible changes to business, residential, and land use codes. What changes would you like to see?

With three workshops upcoming in the next few months on , Altadena residents are being invited to give input on how to change the town for the better.

The question is, what sort of changes would Altadena residents like to see?

Below, we've compiled some possible ideas on zoning and regulation changes that could be part of the process.  The ideas are mainly based on stories we've done or complaints we've heard from Altadena residents.

Bear in mind, the upcoming Altadena community standards process is not a massive new master planning process where the community can ask for new trails, new roads, or a new redevelopment plan - the process is meant to update zoning and planning regulations.

Please take a look at the poll below and tell us which, if any, of the below changes you would like to see.  If you have other ideas and would like to see them voted on, tell us below in the comments section and we can add them.

I would like to see opposite street cleaning days on streets that intersect. I am handicapped without yard space. I have to park and walk in Wednesdays, not far to me, it was my noisy neighbor who submitted a fraudulent partition

I wanted to vote for more than one of these options. Is it ok to vote early and often?

michele, yes vote for as many as you want. We have our disclaimer up that it is not scientific, so it's all good! But yeah, that is how I intended it - they are not really either/or choices, more like an a la carte menu.

Maybe we should regulate the number of complaints about neighbors and businesses one person can make in a six-month period? Just sayin'... ;-)

I also wanted to vote for more but I'm unable to clear the results to vote again. :-(

if the complaints involve violations against rules, codes, or laws... then I say WE NEED MORE people to step up and voice complaints. This, at least, is an expression of caring for one's community. Those who remain quiet while things slowly deteriorate are a part of the problem.

True Freedom- we have people up here who get into arguments and start using zoning to punish folks and make their lives a living hell. I had to deal with a lot of that when I was on the LUC and really, the County needs to stop being a willing and even gleeful participant in that kind of thing.

I too wanted to vote for several things including getting rid of the Spanish only design standards on Lake, loosening up some aspects of the Mansionization regulations, holding all parking on lake in common, allowing small farm uses, allowing bistro permits that are different than restaurant permits, converting Lake ave into one zone that allows all of the uses of the three different zone now on it so that it becomes simple and inexpensive to locate a business there, a zone with low parking requirements on Lincoln and fair oaks for EXISTING buildings (only) and the list is really long.......

Yeah, unfortunately we have some chronic complainers with a very strong sense of personal entitlement who believe they should never be inconvenienced by anything or one. Reminds me of people who file nuisance lawsuits. . . simply because they can and I guess it makes them feel powerful. So we end with the tyranny of the minority. . .

Sorry everyone about not being about to vote for more than one thing - I could have sworn I did a poll once that allowed for that - it may be that our system has since been changed to not allow that. If you log out of Patch and log back in you can vote a second time I think. I imagine that is too much effort for most, but if you are on the site reading tomorrow you probably will have at that pointed logged out and logged back in just by shutting down your computer. If you are dedicated, you might come cast another vote then.
