Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation Offers Free Flu Shots

The weather is changing, and so is the protective measures needed to defend the body against infections. To provide preventive education and promote a healthy community, the Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation is offering free flu shots. Heading into its 19th year of conducting the program, the organization partnered with Walgreens in providing flu shots.

The flu shot is a preventive measure during this flu season.

“Flu shots help with prevention, and people are less likely to get sick,” said Shiou-bih Yang, a nurse at the Alhambra Free clinic. “Flu complications are still high for elderly and flu shots are still important.”

The Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation recommends that people get their flu shots earlier than later.

“It’s critical to get a flu shot before the flu season starts,” said Debra Bourdeaux, CEO of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation.

The Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation will be offering flu vaccines at a number of Southern California locations. The shots are free and will be given to individuals seven years and up. Those who attend the events should bring an ID. The flu shot program is scheduled for the following dates and locations.
