Pasadena Buddhist Temple Obon Festival (Day 2 of 2)

Pasadena Buddhist Temple Annual Obon Festival 2015 (Day 2 of 2)

Pasadena Buddhist Temple’s annual Obon festival will be held July 18
and 19. There will be food, crafts, games, cultural exhibits and martial
arts demonstrations. Each evening, dancers from around the Southland
gather in a circle and dance the traditional Obon Odori (Japanese
folk dances). Dancing is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm each evening.
Obon odori is to dance for joy. Everyone is invited to join in to just
dance and be accepted as we are. At 7 pm there will be a taiko
(Japanese percussion) performance by L.A. Matsuri Taiko

Obon honors the memory of relatives and friends who have passed away. A
special service will be held Sun. July 12 at 10 am, for families that
have lost a loved one since Obon 2014.

The Temple sanctuary will be open from 5:15 pm to 6:00 pm to the public.
Rev. Gregory Gibbs will be present to answer questions.
