Donate to Fallen Firefighters’ Families at Giant Fork

Firefighters and volunteers will collect public donations Friday and Saturday for the families of firefighters killed in the recent horrific blaze in Prescott, Arizona.

The giant Fork in the Road in Pasadena, created by Altadena’s Ken Marshall for Bob Stane of the Coffee Gallery and Ice House Comedy Club, is again a symbol of community giving to those in need.

While the fork has stood as a collection spot for Put the Fork in Hunger food and toy drives in recent years, this week the fork will be a place where the public can give to families of the 19 firefighters recently killed battling a wildfire in Prescott, Arizona.

The Fork Foundation is teaming up with the Pasadena Firefighters Local 809 for the effort, where off duty firefighters and reserve apparatus will have boots ready for the public to fill with donations.

“Our mission statement is to provide change and reach out to the community where there is a need,” the Fork Foundation shared in a statement. Community has no boundaries or borders. We want to help change the lives of these families and help them get back on their feet after this devastating loss.”

The donation drive is happening Friday July 19 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday July 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fork Plaza at 200 Bellefontaine Street in Pasadena, just south of Huntington Hospital where Pasadena Avenue and St. John Avenue come to a fork. Just look for the literal giant fork in the road.
