Altadena Group to Support Walmart Workers on Black Friday

On Black Friday, the group Neighbors Building a Better Altadena will post signs of support in Altadena for Walmart workers and will also have a presence at a Paramount Walmart demonstration.

While some people are already camping out for Black Friday deals at stores like Walmart, the group Neighbors Building a Better Altadena will be supporting Walmart workers on Friday.

The group shared in a release that on Black Friday they will post signs in support of Walmart workers at

They will also carpool to a 10 a.m. Paramount Walmart demonstration to support Walmart workers.

NBBA also urged residents to shop local on Saturday in honor of Small Business Saturday.

What do you think of the NBBA’s Black Friday support of Walmart workers? Are you shopping locally on Saturday?

I think it is pretty lame. Build a better neighborhood by investing in new businesses on the liconln corridor, not protesting one.

What is left out of this article is that Walmart workers nationwide are striking on Black Friday for improved wages, health care and protected speech. Walmart sets the standard for low wages in the retail industry.

Use your cabeza Mr. Richard. The protest is against Walmart for the way it treats its workers.

While I have a problem with the opposition to having Walmart in Altadena at all, I have no problem whatever with supporting the workers for decent working conditions & wages. I also support any attempt to unionize Walmart workers. Walmart's treatment of workers is a shining example of why unions were formed in the first place.

This illustrates that NBBA is more interested in union labor issues than what is good for Altadena residents.

Don't put my comment on the NBBA, Ivan. I'm not a member and wouldn't be.

William: If you look at the comment structure, you will note that my comment is a top level comment, i.e., a comment on the story, not a reply to your comment. Wlamart's labor practices are distinct from whether its presence would benefit Altadena.
