Altadena Backyard Citrus Grower to Join Farmers Market

Old Soldier Citrus will be the latest local farm to join the Altadena Farmers Market, which meets Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Loma Alta Park.

Altadena resident Emily Green will begin selling citrus fruits grown in her backyard starting this Wednesday at the Altadena Farmers Market, according to a post on the market Facebook page.

The booth, called Old Soldier Citrus, will sell Valencia oranges, Eureaka and Meyer lemons, Bixby tangerines and Muscat grapes according to the page.

Green writes about gardening at the Los Angeles Times and blogs at http://chanceofrain.com/.

According to the post on the farmers market page, she grows the citrus on old ranch lands with a set-up designed to use as little water as possible.

The farmers market meets every Wednesday at from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
