Altadena's New Flag

Second Update: According to Dr. Sandra Thomas, the Town Council chair, there was also in person voting on the flag, which made the white flag design the top overall vote getter.  We requested the final tallies for the vote including on-line and in-person voting and will update you if we receive them.

Greg Middleton, of the Town Council, who originally announced the contest, said the Council decided to take votes at the Altadena Senior Center and some other locations as a way of reaching out to people who do not have an Internet connection.  The contest was .

Updated: The flag design that was announced at the Town Council meeting on Tuesday is not the one listed as the top vote getter at the meeting.  The design that received 98 votes online is the green flag that is also pictured here.  The design announced Tuesday is listed as having received 12 votes.  We will ask Town Council members for more information as to the discrepancy and update you with the answer if we receive it.

Original: The above flag design won an online poll to be the official flag for the Altadena Town Council and will be displayed at the Town Council meetings and other events in Altadena.

The design was one of 13 that were voted on by participating Altadena residents in an online contest on the Altadena Town Council website.  Town Council members posted most of the original designs (which were slight variations on one basic theme involving the existing town seal) and several were also submitted by the public. 

In total 292 people voted and 98 voted for the above design.  The next top vote getter received 76 votes.
