Nominate Local Champions of Open Government

Organizer of next month's Sunshine Week 2012, which celebrates government transparency, are looking for local heroes who have fought for open government in their home town. Know anyone?

Do you know people in Altadena who have championed local government transparency?

Altadena Patch is participating in Sunshine Week 2012, which begins on March 11, by promoting the Sunshine Week organization’s national 'Local Heroes' contest.  The contest honors people across the country who have worked hard to make sure that government stays transparent.

Altadena, of course, has its own challenges because it lacks the locally elected municipal government that most towns do.  In a sense, however, that only ups the challenge for Altadena activists who have to deal with a county government that serves more people than most state governments do.

So if you know people who have risen to that challenge, please take this chance to nominate them for the contest.

The deadline for nominations is Monday Feb. 20 so if you know somebody, now is the chance to do it. The winner will be honored in Washington D.C.
