A new underground market is starting up Sunday afternoon at girl scout camp on Mariposa Avenue, but don't try showing up without registering first.
The Eat Well Market will be from 12 to 3 p.m. at 615 E. Mariposa Street and will feature "hand-made or hand-grown" organic food.
Because the event is not a certified farmers' market it technically is a club get together, which is why it requires membership.
Those who wish to register before the event can do so on the market's website or can just send an email with the word ‘membership’ in the subject line to membership@eatwellmarket.com.
Precisely what kind of vendors and how many there will be is not listed on the site, even once someone signs up (Altadena Patch has completed the process).
Over at the Altadenablog, where news of the market was first reported, there is some information on what kinds of vendors to expect.
Altadena has not had a market since the organizers of the other underground market, the Altadena Urban Farmers' Market, closed it and opened a new market at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena. County officials have frequently promised a certified farmer's market is right around the corner, but it has never materialized.
