Vendor List Released for New Loma Alta Farmers Market

A partial list of vendors who will be at the new Altadena Farmers Market that starts on May 30 has been made available to the public.

The market manager is Joseph Shuldiner, who was an organizer of the original Altadena Urban Farmers Market and is also the director of the Los Angeles-based Institute of Domestic Technology, which hosts food-making workshops and other events around the county. 

The market will be held weekly on Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. starting on that date.  It will have about 30 vendors, about 20 of which will sell fruits and vegetables and about 10 of which will sell prepared items, according to Shuldiner.

Shuldiner also announced Tuesday that the market will have a "focused emphasis on urban backyard farmers, small family farms and sellers based in Altadena."  

To work on integrating small backyard farmers, Shuldiner has hired someone to work with local farmers to prepare them to get cleared to sell at the market.

Below is a partial list of vendors for the May 30 event.  According to Shuldiner's email, a full list will be available closer to the event.

  • Shu + Debbie Takikawa - "The Garden of..." organic produce and flowers, Los Olivos
  • L.A. Bread Bakers - Fresh Sonoran wheat which will be ground into flour on a bicycle–powered grain mill at the market
  • Growing Home - (sub)urban farm in Diamond Bar
  • Kenter Canyon Farms – Salad green mixes and herbs
  • Jubilee Farm - purebred Berkshire breed pork
  • Mother Moo Creamery – Organic Ice Cream
  • Sqirl Jams – farm-centric artisinal jams
  • Beyond the Olive – California olive oils available in bulk. BYOB for refills
  • Plow & Gun – Altadena based coffee roasters. Drip and cold brewed seasonal-single origin coffee
  • Drake Family Farm: Ontario goat dairy. Chevré and bloomy-rind goat cheese
  • Pine Street Products – Altadena-made plant-based soap products 
  • Gary's Knife Sharpening Service
