Who Should Replace Captain McLean?

The highest ranking official in the Altadena Sheriff’s Department is retiring, What does the community hope to see in a new Captain, and will your voice be heard?

Although the new Captain of the won’t be the direct result of a popular vote, it does seem community input should weigh in, strongly.

No doubt every resident agrees on some basic requirements; for example, a Captain who would be deeply committed to and engaged in understanding our town, including all our strengths and weaknesses. And someone who appreciates, as we do, the fact that this is not a cookie-cutter community; we’re diverse–economically, racially, professionally, politically–and thoughtfully so.

As to how we can bring our opinions to bear, significantly, on the next choice for the highest ranking law-enforcement officer in Altadena, what would that look like? Perhaps a representative cross-section of Altadena residents could interview the candidates and provide insights and recommendations, or a panel could present our across-the-board requirements to the powers that be.

What are your thoughts? What kind of person would you like to see guiding law enforcement in Altadena, and how can we make sure our voices are heard?

For crying out loud! You can't even spell "secede" and you want to run your own state?
