The Scoop: Aveson's Spring Soiree

Enjoy a night of dinner, dancing, and fun at Aveson's Spring Soiree--for adults only!

Sometimes we adults just want to go out and have some grown-up fun.  Where can you go that’s close to home that has dining and dancing and all the grown-up fun that goes with it?  Well, you are in luck this weekend!  Aveson Charter School, a public school right here in Altadena, is having their annual Spring Soiree fundraiser this weekend--and it’s all about adult fun.

This Saturday, March 3, 2012, Aveson Charter School is holding its annual Spring Soiree in the Sofia Ballroom at Noor Restaurant in Paseo Colorado.  The libations begin at 7:00 pm with complimentary wine tasting paired with an assortment of cheese and charcuterie.  Enjoy the cool tunes provided by members of the Allan Wasserman Jazz Ensemble with the accompaniment of Arlynn Page.  At 8:00pm, partake in catered Heavy Hors d’Oeuvres (Noor’s own Mediterranean fusion style) and relax on the terrace with a cocktail from the well-appointed cash bar.  DJ Marko DeSantis will spin great dance tunes from 8:00 – 11:00pm so you can dance the night away.  If you still have space in your belly after all of the delectable hors d’oeuvres, dazzle your taste buds with a sweet offering of dessert, coffee, and tea.  During the entire evening, you will have opportunities to bid on some amazing items during their silent and live auctions, such as an unreleased ipad3, a Laker basketball signed by all of the current players, a wine and dine voucher worth $800, a bike from Steve’s bikes, VIP Clippers box seats for 4, tickets to theaters and museums, spa packages, Tom Sawyer camp sessions, and much, much more.  With the mass of auction packages, you are sure to find something to throw you into a bidding frenzy.  For more information, please check the Aveson website.

Tickets are $50 and you may purchase tickets online or at the door (major credit cards welcomed for ticket purchases and any event activities--including auctions).  Last year’s Soiree was sold out, so get your tickets early.  ALL funds go directly to the continuation of making Aveson Charter School the competitive and much needed Altadena educational institution it is currently.  This will be a night of old-fashioned adult fun, so put on your swankiest outfit and step into spring with some drinking, dining, and dancing under the moonlight at Aveson’s Spring Soiree.

I've read a variety of articles about Patch over the years, including that one. Interesting to seeRead More what media is saying about other media and how often they can get it wrong. Ultimately, I don't consider speculation to be reliable. Thanks for weighing in, Marty.

I think the main issue is the lack of the comment stream - you could see what people were talkingRead More about, and you were often drawn in - and could find the article simply by clicking on the comment. It was the main advantage AltadenaPatch had over AltadenaBlog - much more engaging. No more.

Lisa I am actually holding back, because my comment was up front for two days, and I don't want toRead More look like a hog. As for user friendly....well, maybe. But as with any major revamp, after the foreign feel to navigating, usually the new way feels comfortable eventually. I am not sure either way yet.

And no one is commenting on any stories anymore. This is because the new format is not userRead More friendly.
