Patch Blog: The Scoop--Odyssey Charter School Fall Fundraiser

Odyssey Charter Schools holds its Fall Fundraiser, hoping to bridge their budget gap while spreading a little joy this holiday season.

'Tis the season for giving and what better place to give than your local public school?  The best thing is, is that if you give to Odyssey Charter School, they will give you something right back.  On Saturday, December 10th, Odyssey Charter School holds its Fall Fundraiser from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Need a handmade gift for grandma or grandpa?  There will be an Art Project Table that for only $5 the kids can paint a lovely mini canvas or create beaded jewelry, design a holiday greeting card or ornament, sculpt a clay figurine and more.  That’s such a bargain that you could knock off all of the teachers and extended family members on your holiday list in one fell swoop (and don't forget those stockings!).  And considering that kids have a hard time parting with their craftsmanship (and you might also) they can afford to create doubles.

Stock up on books for all the kids' wishlists at their Scholastic Book Fair (if you know Scholastic, you know it’s a bargain!).

Take a Cake Walk and buy your chance to win one of their decadent cakes baked by talented Odyssey Parents and enjoy some good laughs and fun at this old time favorite.  Then head over to the Bake Sale where you can stock up on your weekend desserts with every item costing only $1.

Need some fuel for all that shopping and crafting?  Odyssey Bistro Café and Espresso Bar will serve hot chocolate, hot cider, coffee, and homemade pastries.

But the best deal of all?  Odyssey will have fresh cut Christmas Trees for sale from the tree farm for only $35 - $65, couldn’t ask for anything more affordable or convenient.  But get there early because they will surely sell out.

And make sure to buy a $5 raffle ticket or else you won’t have a chance to win an Apple iPad2 or $500 cash, but only 500 tickets are available for this highly coveted prize—that’s a 1 in 500 chance of winning…that’s better than your odds of  avoiding a solicitor outside of Rite Aid.  You can purchase raffle tickets at the fundraiser, but once they’re gone, they’re gone, so if you really want one head over to the Odyssey Charter School office during school hours and purchase one anytime before Saturday.  You do not need to be present to win.

This fundraiser was to be held on December 3rd, but due to the severe weather last weekend, it was rescheduled to December 10th, the same day that (please see my other blog post).  So how about this...head over to Aveson for an awesome Pancake Breakfast and check out their handmade boutique and then make your way over to Odyssey to finish off your afternoon.  You will be supporting two wonderful public school options in our community and can get the bulk of your holiday shopping completed.

So you see?  While it is better to give than receive…who says you can’t do both and still feel just as good?
