UPDATE: OK, FALSE ALARM. These are probably the last rocks anyone would use as a tool. They look like a composite material, and break away easily. I can also see how they have fracture in shapes like shown. The one in the shape of a flying saucer is interesting though. I don't know what this was doing there. Trivia question: in the 1970's bumper stickers had the yellow happy face that came along with what phrase?

After digging a trench to fix some of the 90 year old clay pipe, I began to notice many rocks with the same odd shape. Generally, they where about the size of a large potato. However each of them had a small sharp turn, or inside corner cut out. Not large enough turn to change the overall shape of the rock. It looked obviouse obvious to me it would be an unnatural event. They also seem to have a place for the thumb to rest when holding the rock. As I dug more, I found more. Since this was around the area of the 90 year old pipe, Their was no way for me to know if it was top soil buried when replacing the dirt the first time. However, I then found more of the same type rocks 30 feet away where no underground pipes exist. Has anyone else found rocks in Altadena that fit this description? I think the last time I found artifacts was 1970 when their was still silverware and such on Echo Mt.
