Pasadena Waldorf School Campus Tied to the History of Downtown Property Sale

Paquita Lick Machris, the namesake of the Pasadena Waldorf School Machris Campus where the lower school is located on Mariposa Avenue, played a critical role in the evolution of our school by donating a parcel of land located south-east of Downtown to PWS. The school's founder, Paul Livadary was able to sell that parcel in order to gain the funds for purchasing Scripps Hall. The story of her property was recently the subject of an article in the Los Angeles Downtown News. Without the remarkable donation of that property, traced back to an acquisition from the city in 1852, the vision of our current school would not have been realized
