Walmart's new slogan: "Low ethics, high profits, all the time"

Walmart kills workers, sells deadly weapons, bribes Mexican officials.

In their front-page article in todayo's New York Times, "As Walmart Makes Safety Vows, It's Seen as Obstacle to Change,"  reporters Steven Greenhouse and Jim Yardley expose Walmart's lies about its use of unsafe Bangladesh sweatshops. In their masterful reporting, they reveal that Walmart knew about the fire hazards in the factory but chose not to do anything about it, citing the expense.

In the last few weeks we've learned that Walmart

  • puts profits above worker safety in the factories that make its clothing and toys
  • is the largest retail seller of military-style assault weapons, including the deadly Bushmaster that was used in many recent mass shootings, including Newtown, Conn. Walmart sells about 13% of all Bushmasters.
  • bribes Mexican officials to expand its retail empire.

New Walmart slogan should be: "Low ethics, but high profits, all the time."
