Altadena Man ID'd as Gold Line Crash Victim

Authorities have release some information on the man struck and killed by a Metro Gold Line train Saturday, Jan. 4 in South Pasadena.

The man was identified as an Altadena resident in his late 50s, according to Lieutenant Larry Dietz of the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.

The name of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

At 4:15 p.m., South Pasadena Police responded to a call of a pedestrian being struck by a Gold Line Metropolitan Transportation Authority passenger train at the intersection Pasadena Avenue and Monterey Road in South Pasadena, according to a written statement provided by Sergeant Jason Lucas of South Pasadena Police.

Officers on scene along with South Pasadena Fire Department personnel arrived within two minutes and attempted "all possible life saving measures" to resuscitate the 58-year-old man, but he died at the scene, according to South Pasadena Police.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide investigators are handling the case.
