Altadena Sheriff's Station Participates In 'Tweet-A-Thon'

Global Tweet-A-Thon seeks to engage the public about local policing efforts through social media.

Deputies from the Altadena Sheriff's Station took part in the Global Tweet-A-Thon, Nov. 1.

The Tweet-A-Thon gives a police agency's followers a virtual ride along, providing a glimpse into responses on a variety of calls. More than 100 police agencies from around the world participate in this social media event, officials said.

Agencies used the hashtag #poltwt while participating as they created awareness about police work, officials said.

"Here in Altadena, we hope to use the event as a virtual ride-along, giving the community a glimpse of the daily activity and a behind the scenes look at the typical day of a patrol deputy," said John Benedict, captain of the Altadena Sheriff's Station in a statement. “This is the second time the Altadena Sheriff’s Station has participated in the Global Tweet-a-Thon and we hope our participation continues to positively influence the use of social media."
