Altadena Woman Fatally Shot by Police Officer in Minnesota

Multiple news sources have identified the victim of a officer-involved shooting in Minnesota as a 58-year-old woman from Altadena.

A woman who was shot and killed by a police officer on the 1-394 Freeway outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota on Thursday was a 58-year-old Altadena native, according to the TwinCities.com website.

Multiple news sources identified victim Katherine Marie Gordon as an Altadena resident on Friday.  She was fatally shot Thursday afternoon after she was pulled over by police.

According to a , police have said Gordon had a handgun, but have not said whether or not she fired a shot at any police officers.  The officer who shot her has been put on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated, according to the story.

Sidney Myers, who was driving on the freeway at the time, told Golden Valley Patch that he heard three, quick gunshots from his car.

"Just 'bang, bang, bang' in a row," he said. "(But) I didn't see anything."

Charmaine Wahlstrom Schodde, who commented on the TwinCities.com article, wrote Patch in an email that she knew Gordon.  She said Gordon did live in Altadena, but was a frequent visitor to Minnesota, and stayed with family and friends for long periods of time, including at Schodde's house last year.

Schodde wrote that she found Gordon's death "absolutely shocking" and said that there would be "absolutely no way that Katherine would have intended to shoot an officer."
