Authorities Continue 'Avoid the 100' DUI Campaign

Police, CHP and Sheriff's Deputies continue to arrest more DUI drivers this year as opposed to the same time in 2012, authorities revealed over the weekend.

From 12:01 a.m. Dec. 13 through midnight, Dec. 29, authorities arrested 1,996 individuals on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Authorities arrested 1,913 during the same period last year, according to information released by the Avoid the 100 DUI Campaign.

The information for the update given is provisional, with some agencies having yet to report, authorities said.

For today, Dec. 30 and tomorrow, Dec. 31, authorities across Los Angeles County will continue the enforcement period.

For New Year's Day, the California Highway Patrol will deploy all available officers during the Maximum Enforcement Period, with regularly scheduled traffic and patrol officers focusing on stopping and arresting DUI drivers, authorities said.
