UPDATED: Bicyclists Found After Freezing Night in Angeles Nat'l Forest

UPDATE, 10:15 a.m.: City News Service reported that search and rescue teams today found the four mountain bikers who had been missing in the Angeles National Forest since going for a ride on Mount Wilson Sunday, police said.

"They were found in Bear Canyon this morning and they are all OK," said Sgt. Burton Brink of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station. "I was told they made a wrong turn and got lost.''

The four men, cousins between the ages of 28 and 38, began their ride on Mount Wilson at 10 a.m. Sunday and planned to return to their cars at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Windsor turnout by 3 p.m., said Sgt. David Shoemaker of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station.

"They didn't show and their family found their cars. They had no contact. No phones. And they weren't dressed for a cold night outdoors," Shoemaker said.

As many as 24 searchers were out all night looking for the bikers. The temperatures in the area dropped to the mid-to-high 40s overnight, which would be uncomfortable but not too bad, Shoemaker said.

PREVIOUSLY: City News Service is reporting that the four mountain bikers who went missing in the Angeles National Forest between Mt. Wilson and Windsor Turnout on the east side of Altadena Sunday night have been found by search-and-rescue teams, says a desk deputy at the Crescenta Valley sheriff's station.

The four men, residents of Glendale, North Hollywood, Rialto and Sunland, were located in Bear Canyon, authorities from the Altadena Sheriff's Station said.

According to authorities at the Altadena Sheriff's Station, four male bike riders were several hours overdue from a bike ride that reportedly traversed the mountains between Mount Wilson and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Windsor Turnout in Pasadena. The ride was supposed to last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Members from the Altadena Search and Rescue team were activated by 7 p.m. Sunday night. Montrose Search and Rescue also assisted.

A Sheriff's Department helicopter searched until 4 a.m.
