Update: Suicide Likely Cause of Death for Man Found in Eaton Canyon

Coroner's office will continue to investigate.

A dead man found on the fire road above Eaton Canyon likely committed suicide, according to officers at the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The body, found Monday evening, was an "apparent suicide," according to Deputy Jeff Gordon of the Headquarters Bureau.

The county coroner's office will continue to do a routine investigation and make an official final ruling, Gordon said.

The body was found at some point along the fire road past the bridge across the canyon, according to Lt. Angela Shephard of the Altadena Sheriff's Station.

The road is frequently used by hikers and mountain bikers.
